Dungeon Master's Guild
Impactful Ideals is a unique subsystem designed to reward PCs for roleplaying and intense decision making. Choose from one of 10 archetypal Ideals like Vengeance, Wealth, Power or Family and gain new abilities as you embrace your chosen goals.
Building on the Piety system from Mythic Odyssey of Theros, Impactful Ideals presents a more setting neutral mechanic that keeps characters’ motivations at the forefront. As characters put more emphasis on their Ideal and grow closer to their goals, they’ll unlock powerful abilities to help them in their quests. With a list of clear, roleplay centered actions tailored to each Ideal, DMs can easily track progress and award (or even deduct) points towards a character’s Ideal at the end of each session based on their choices.
